Mode of Images

PS 7 Lesson 02

I usually work with two Modes in PS 7 i.e. CMYK Mode and RGB Mode.
CMYK stands for:
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key
RGB stands for
Red Green Blue

Lets start the Tutorial now.

  • Open any Image in PS 7
  • Click on Image>Adjustment and you'll see that the RGB is marked. RGB, i think is used for web publishing only as well as Photo Printing as know by me to the best of my knowledge, CMYK usually work with only Black INK which is good for printing logos, banners visiting cards etc.

  • Click on CMYK and the mode of the Image will be changed.
  • If you apply the setting to a unedited single picture no dialogue box will be opened.
  • In case you have merged three or two pictures in a file, There will be a dialogue box' Click on "Don't Flatten".
